What is Shattered Minds?
Shattered Minds is a series bible that takes you on the journey of a man called Victor. Victor suffers from schizophrenia and DID.
Victor beings to see visions of his best friend, Sylvia, only problem, she died years ago!
Victor and Sylvia graduated university at the same time, getting their masters degrees in psychology. Victor however, was offered more opportunities than Sylvia was, he got a job as a therapist faster than she did and people began to celebrate all of Victor’s achievements. Sylvia, who wasn’t given the opportunities that Victor was, began to build a bit of resentment towards Victor however, wanting to be happy for Victor, she buried the resentment deep down, not allowing herself to show Victor how she felt.
One night, when celebrating Victor’s achievement of being a therapist for a whole year, Sylvia had a little bit too much to drink and began telling Victor how she felt resentment towards him for getting the opportunities she never could. This broke into an argument between the two and resorted in Sylvia running away to clear her head, however with her being slightly drunk, she ran into oncoming traffic and lost her life. Victor chased after her but didn’t get there until just after she had been hit and was unable to save her.
Due to Victor not being able to cope with the death of Sylvia, his schizophrenia makes him start to see visions of her as well as being able to hear her voice.
Victor chooses to accept these visions of Sylvia as it means he can be with her again. As he begins to live with the visions of Sylvia, he begins to live in a reality where she’s alive again. Due to this, Victor struggles with his job as a therapist as he keeps seeing Sylvia, preventing him from doing is job without losing focus.
As the visions become more consistent, Victor develops DID. This allows Victor to live his life focused on Sylvia whilst living a separate life at the same time as a therapist. The therapist develops his own name, Tori.
This becomes a problem when Sylvia starts to attend therapy herself and Victor is her therapist!
